I received my Ma ster's degrees in Human Services and Professional Counseling at the University of Great Falls, Montana;in May and December of 1995. I am currently pursing a Ph.D. in psychology through Northern Illinois University.
License
I am licensed as a Clinical Professional Counselor through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
Experience
Twenty-one years of extensive experience in the helping professions has ranged from crisis intervention to wellness & productivity workshops. As an independent therapist I have worked with mental health clinics, non-profit organizations, and small businesses. My private practice, New Directions Counseling is in its tenth year of service.
Practice Composition
I work in a variety of spheres, including individuals, partners, families & groups seeking counseling, crisis intervention, interpersonal dynamics, parenting, self-esteem work, sexual abuse issues, alternative lifestyles, and stress management. Further, I provide business related support services, such as employee assistance programs, employee relations' interventions and development, management seminars, as well as workplace interventions and workshops
Anticipated Outcomes of the Helping Relationship
Counseling is a demanding, and often painful, process. However, it can help create increased insight, new understanding, and personal growth. This journey of discovery is usually not staightforward and the outcomes of your choices and decisions may not be easily predicted. Still, you can expect to make progress as defined by your goals, objectives, and motivations for change in a timely manner.
It is my task to help you clarify your feelings and thoughts. I will also help you identify behaviors you may choose to change based on your values and unique considerations. I know that together we can search out the questions, and the solutions, with in the context of yourworld.
Client Rights
You have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. It is important that your concerns are understood from your perspective and that, as your counselor, I refrain from making value judgements about you, your concerns or your choices
You have the right of confidentiality. Your confidences will be safeguarded at all times. Your authorization to speak with anyone, outside of the exceptions outlined and discussed in the Lmits to Confidentiality form required.
You have the right to quality of service. Should you require or desire therapy beyond the scope of my qualifications, experience, or skill level, you can reasonably expect to be referred to someone better suited to meet your needs. Quality service also encompasses basic consumer rights.
Financial Considerations
My hourly rate is $100. Due to privacy and confidentiality considerations, I do not directly accept insurance plans. Instead, you pay me directly, I provide you with a receipt containing the details needed to make your insurance claim, you submit it and the insurance payment is made to you. Fees may be assigned for missed appointments.
